Abra-Mule; or, the history of the deposition of Mahomet the 4th Emperor of the Turks, [ca. 1700].

Anonymous manuscript translation of the 1691 novel by Eustache le Noble de Tenneliere, concerning Abra-Muley [sic], a beautiful Russian girl Soliman encountered during the Battle of Vienna (1683). He fell in love with her, though she was a prisoner destined to be a sultaness to Soliman's brother, the Sultan Mahomet, and though she herself was to fall in love with the Grand Vizier Cara-Abrahim. The tragic novel is a "secret history" of the resulting three-way rivalry over Abra-Muley's love, "which prov'd so fatal to the Ottoman Empire," and its hidden role in known courtly history, most notably the execution of the Grand Vizier and the eventual succession of Soliman to the sultanate following Mahomet's deposition in 1687.
